Flitting from flower to flower and tasting the nectar with my feet…
Soaring high with abandon and going where ever the wind takes me, making the most of my ephemeral life…
Transporting pollen from one flower to another and helping in bringing forth a fresh bloom of flowers in the carpet of the undergrowth…
Fluttering around a lion cub just out of his reach, and landing smoothly on his moist button nose…
Showing off my colourful wings to a little girl crying over her lost toy, helping her forget her miseries for a brief time…
Hovering over a mother silently weeping over her child’s grave, giving her back the trust she had in hope…
If I were a butterfly, I would bring forth flowers to this land barren of love…
This post throws light on gloom, yet emphasizes on Hope. That’s the beauty of it 🙂
Keep Writing mate!
Thank you so much, Neha! Means a lot! 🙂
I love this delicate, hopeful tender-hearted poem! You’ve really brought a smile to my lips this morning, Sumithra. Hugs, Vivian
That is so kind of you, Vivian! I am flattered that you could connect with the post.
Hugs,
Sumithra.
This is most beautiful, Sumithra. Nature has a way of reaching into our souls and touching our innermost feelings.
Thank you so much, Lynne! And nature sure has her own charm and her ways of getting into people’s hearts!
This is lovely Sumi…. ‘soaring high with abandon’ is a phrase that i could personally relate to…. that has always been a wish at the surface level and an aspiration at the deeper level. am sitting in the garden as i type this out watching out for those butterflies that are fluttering hither and thither and your ‘poem’ takes on a newer dimension…. lightening up my heart and day…… Thanks 🙂 🙂
Thank you so much mama!! 🙂
I am sure everyone at some level aspires to soar high with abandon, letting go of all the links that chain us to this world. And I felt that butterflies portray this feeling the best!
As usual very nice Sumi
Thank you so much, aunty! 🙂
I feel like you captured the essence of much of what it means to be a butterfly, Sumithra. Beautiful.
Those are indeed kind words! Thank you so much, Sir! 🙂
That’s so beautiful. Longing to see Simba now 😉
Ha ha!! Thank you so much!! 🙂
Lovely 🙂
Thank you so much, Sir. 🙂
A beautiful read, I have the impression this could actually have been written by a butterfly…
Thank you so much! That is the highest praise that I could get for this post! 🙂
Just tonight I am sad to hear that these, too, are endangered. If only I could bring forth love to this barren land…the butterflies may have a chance! So gentle, delicate and beautiful, your poem xo
Thank you, Alarna. And I believe that the only species that is not in any danger of becoming endangered is the human race! 😦
