What would life be like without music in Nature?
Without the pitter patter of the rainfall on the roof,
Without the sound of the wind howling and the waves breaking on the sandy shore,
Without the sound of the bamboos creaking as they rub against each other in the wind,
Without the sound of the elephants trumpeting as they revel in the mud, taking their ritual mud bath,
Without the spine-chilling sound of the prides of lions roaring in the night, and the very same lions meowing gently as they fondle their cubs in the morning,
Without the sound of the birds singing their various songs in praise of Mother Nature,
Without the roar of the waterfall as it tumbles down the cliff onto the rocks below, leaving them polished stones…
Oh, it would be like spring without the blooming flowers, and autumn without the myriad of colours…
“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life”- Berthold Auerbach
Poetically written, Sumithra. Music is truly the soul of nature.
Thank you! And I am glad that you feel it too! 🙂
Oh that would be a horrible world!
It definitely would. Like cake without the icing!
I really like and very inspired… 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
This is so beautifully written! And so true. Loved it.
Thank you so much! 🙂
Beautiful photo — it’s almost like we’re seeing the raw life energy of the reeds.
Yes, that is exactly why I chose this picture. It captures the effect of sound in motion! 🙂
All the pictures in my blog are actually my dad’s. You can check out his blog here:

Delicious, Sumithra. It reminds me of an article I read about an Aussie guy who sailed the oceans in 2013, and found them to be deathly quiet. Dead fish in a Dead Sea and no bird life in sight. What a woeful sound…
Oh, that sounds really bad! You can never truly appreciate the sound of nature until you experience its absence.
I am glad you liked this piece! 🙂
Mother and Father Nature can sing some beautiful tunes, but when they are having a disagreement, you don’t want to be anywhere near the sounds of those hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, fires, blizzards……………..lol
Ha ha! Never thought of it this way! 😀
Nature is so soothing if we just take time to connect.
Thanks for the follow. Animals must also be important to you 😀
Yes, they definitely are!
And kudos to what you are doing! I am a firm believer of not eating and wearing any of the kind living beings as well!
